NEMO adds to holiday celebration

NEMO Adds to Holiday Celebration

SUN PHOTO/TOM VAUGHT These bright-eyed volunteers spent
their early Monday morning picking up "apres-fireworks" trash
on the beaches of Anna Maria after assembling at Ginny's and
Jane E's. Other groups gathered at Roser Memorial Community
Church and at CrossPointe Fellowship.

After Fireworks Clean-Up

On July 5th 2010, NEMO members met at 7:15 am in the rain in 3 different groups to walk the beaches and streets of Anna Maria to clean up after the amazing Sandbar fireworks the night before.  Many of the members commented on the fact that there was not as much trash as was expected for the size of the crowds on the beach, which shows how much our community respects their beaches. Trash bags and disposable gloves were donated by several of the NEMO members.

Parade of Flags

On July 3rd 2010, North End Merchants Organization members bought and lined the streets of Gulf Drive in the City of Anna Maria and Pine Avenue with 500 American flags just before the Privateers' 4th of July parade.  Our members wanted to give the community an even greater sense of patriotism and enjoyment of being in such a proud and beautiful city.  The flags were removed immediately after the parade passed.
